The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Punjab province has foiled a major terror plot by arresting 7 suspected terrorists linked with a banned out during operations in different areas of Punjab. According to the spokesman, the CTD Punjab conducted 38 intelligence based operations in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 38 suspected persons were interrogated and 7 alleged terrorists were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials. Among the arrested terrorists are Abrarul Haq, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Umair, Muhammad Imran Saqib, Ashfaq Ahmad, Muhammad Ayub and Muhammad Muawiya. The terrorists belong to banned organizations Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. The arrest was made during an intelligence-based operation in Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Bahalpur and Gujranwala, he said and added that 1543 grams of explosives, 8 detonators, 13.03 feet of safety fuse, 1 banned book of an banned organization, 2 magazines, 29 pamphlets, 64 stickers, a mobile phone and 24010 rupees in cash were recovered from the possession of the terrorists. The spokesman said that the terrorists had planned to sabotage across the province and wanted to target important installations and other religious places. The police have registered 7 cases against the arrested alleged terrorists in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur and shifted them to an unknown location, he added.
