Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has denied that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has resumed political activities.
In a statement on Saturday, she said Sharif was neither called any meeting nor was he planning to hold any political activities for the time being.
She said that some sections of media had reported that Sharif called party leaders for a meeting at his Jati Umra residence, quoting sources. She dismissed the reports and as baseless and concocted, and said that as the spokesperson of the party, she will apprise the media of any developments in the coming days.
“Those spreading baseless news should respect the private life of the Sharif family. The family is mourning the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz,” she said.
“Nawaz Sharif has not yet started any political activity, and he hasn’t even held any kind of consultations,” she clarified.
Earlier, some sections of the media reported that Sharif would preside over his party’s meeting at his residence in Jati Umra on Saturday.
